New Physician Dr. Michael Claussen Joins Valor Health Family Medicine Team
Emmett, ID (November – 2021) Valor Health welcomes full-time physician Dr. Michael Claussen to the healthcare system’s family medicine team. Dr. Claussen joined Valor in November and chose family medicine to help people and serve his community.
As a primary care provider, Dr. Claussen believes in cultivating genuine relationships with patients and maintains an open, honest care approach: “I view healthcare as a partnership, and I’m dedicated to helping patients navigate good health throughout each life stage.”
Before completing medical school, Dr. Claussen graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in chemical engineering and worked as a production supervisor and product engineer for Cargill, Inc. in Kansas and North Carolina and as a data analyst for Allina Health in Minnesota.
In 2014, he redirected his skills as an engineer into a medical career: “I enjoyed the problem-solving aspects of working as an engineer, but I wanted to help people and serve my community, and I thought medicine was the best way to do that.”
Dr. Claussen graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his internship and residency with Family Medicine Residency of Idaho in Boise. His areas of particular interest are acute and chronic conditions, senior care, and behavioral health and dependency treatment. Dr. Claussen is currently accepting patients at Valor Health.
